What to Pack for a Vacation in Roatan?

Packing for a vacation can be a drag and there are some travelers who hate packing with passion, but in order to make the best out of your visit to Roatan, it is important to pack all the necessary essentials. To make things easier, we have created an ultimate packing list for your vacation in Roatan.

A Carry-On and Personal Documents

If you are flying to Roatan, it is extremely important to bring a carry-on which will include all the essentials that you may need on the first day. Unfortunately, suitcases sometimes get lost at the airport and having a carry-on packed with toiletries, medication, one bathing suit, shorts, and a t-shirt is a big plus in case this happens to you. Make sure to bring your passport, cash, credit cards, and the plane ticket. It is advised to keep these valuables close to you at all times.

Dress Light

You are not going to Siberia, so you probably won’t need that winter jacket that takes up an entire suitcase. A scarf and winter shoes should also stay in the closet. It’s usually hot in Roatan and you will spend a lot of time on the beach. Don’t forget to pack shorts, shirts, and flip flops. Having multiple bathing suits may come in handy and you won’t have to worry if that swimsuit from yesterday is dry or not.

Comfortable Sneakers

People tend to walk a lot while on vacation, therefore, it is wise to have a pair or two of super comfy sneakers with you. Imagine going hiking in Roatan in some uncomfortable shoes and getting blisters on the second day of your vacation. I’m quite sure that no traveler would want this.

Don’t forget to Pack Sunblock

If you want to chill on the beach without having to worry if your skin will burn, make sure to bring plenty of sunblock on vacation. Of course, waterproof sunblock with that has high levels of SPF is recommended, as well as a couple of hats to prevent headaches from the hot sun. To avoid contact with insects, pack a bug spray in your suitcase.

Ask if it is Necessary to Bring Beach Towels

Some hotels offer beach towels for guests. Beach towels are usually quite large and take up too much space, so it would be probably best to call the resort you are staying in and ask if they provide guests with complimentary beach towels.

Bring a Well-Equipped First Aid Kit

Don’t forget to pack a well-equipped first aid kit before the trip to Roatan. Painkillers, anti-diarrhea pills, and antibacterial cream first come to mind. You can also bring a couple of Band-Aids and a pack of baby powder. Keep in mind that for some pills you will need to bring a prescription.
