Roatan
Discussion List Guidelines
The
below list should be considered just that - guidelines. Think
of them as rules of the road in order to make the list as
useful as possible for everyone.
- Roatan,
Bay Islands and/or Honduras Only. The list is exclusively
for discussion about Roatan, the Bay Islands and/or Honduras.
Please don't send chain mail, non-related jokes or even
virus warnings. Since the list is configured to delete all
attachments, you can't get a virus through the messages.
- Promotion
of Your Business, Land for Sale or other Commercial Venture
is Limited to www.roatanet.com Customers. It is inexpensive
to become a customer, especially considering the benefits.
Please contact us
now to learn how.
- Send
an Intro.
After joining, please send along an introduction telling
the other members who you are and what you would like to
learn or offer about Roatan and the Bay Islands.
- Plain
Text Messages. If you know how, turn off HTML messages.
This means all backgrounds, bolding, colors, etc. are not
inserted. Some of our members are in Honduras and pay for
each minute of download. Other members use plain text email
programs and only see gobbly gook instead of your intended
message.
- Copyrighted material. Please don't paste in full articles off other websites or Copyrighted materials of any kind. This includes news articles. Acceptable use guidelines allow pasting in a few sentences and a link to the article.
- Be
Considerate of Others. Consider the reactions of others
before sending a message with profanity, prejudicial remarks
or anything outside the realm of what would be acceptable
in a public forum. This is a place to exchange information
among friends.
- Trim
Previous Messages. When
replying to a message, remove all but the most relevant
parts. This is particularly important if you are replying
to the digest version.
- DON'T
USE ALL UPPER CASE. ON THE INTERNET IT IS TAKEN AS YELLING
AND CAN BE ANNOYING TO READ.
- Use
a Clear Subject. When we have a high volume of messages,
it makes them easier to skim. It is especially important
to put in a subject if you are on the digest version. "Roatan
digest, Vol 1 #95 - 18 msgs" is not very descriptive.
- Don't
Post Thank You's and Me Too's to the List. Please send
these types of messages directly to the person. There's
no reason everyone should read them.
- Don't
Flame other Members. This
goes for both on or off list. If you have a problem with
a member please email the list moderator Here
- Don't
Annoy the Moderator. This list is a volunteer effort
and much time has been spent on it. High maintenance persons
who are using the list to work out personal issues will
be unsubscribed.
- Send
Suggestions. If
you have any suggestions or problems with the list, please
send the moderator a message Here
- Have
Fun!
Also,

like reading messages on the web, seeing archives, polls,
