Basic Info About Roatan

Located just South of Belize, Roatan is the largest the English-speaking Bay Islands of Honduras. Roatan is one of 89 Bay Islands located aprx. 250 miles South of Cozumel, Mexico, and 95 miles SE of Belize in the Western Caribbean. It's easy to get around as it's an English speaking area but technically in Republic of Honduras - great American Allies. Roatan is fun, laidback and still not expensive.

Many folks have migrated down who used to dive & enjoy Cozumel, Belize & other areas before they got more commercialized & expensive. Things are very laidback and truly a banana republic margaritaville area! Roatan has a great Marine Reserve offshore (won honorable mention in recent ISLANDS magazine poll) and the coral reefs are great! Wonderful visibility & fish, etc. Roatan is like Hawaii (palms on beach, some hills & valleys - like Molokai) while Belize & Cayman are more like Florida and the barrier reef around Roatan is close in - so it's really easy to shore dive, snorkel, etc. If you come down to visit your first week of rental fees can be applied to downpayment, if you decide to go down as renter & come back as an owner.
